It has been a busy season for the Image Hungry food photography team and we’ve much to report. But for now we thought we would share with you a seasonal treat we recently photographed.
We undertook the challenging subject of an all round summer favourite – icecream. While delicious, this photographic subject is a difficult one to execute due to its obvious instability. Each shot has to be planned extensively and set-up in advance so that we are able to take advantage of the small shooting window of opportunity. Using our specialised low heat lighting we were able to capture some mouthwatering images for your consumption.
(Images to follow)
These images are to be used for an upcoming marketing and promotion series. We look forward to seeing them in fruition.
Image Hungry has recently celebrated its second birthday. We have enjoyed seeing the evolution of our small business into a productive and successful example and much more is planned. Over the coming summer months ImageHungry.com will be unveiling a new look and layout featuring an indepth portfolio of food photography consisting of our previously unseen work.
We will also be unveiling a selection of royalty free food photography stock images available for download as well as a new style of photography as we start to experiment deeper with in-situ food photography scenarios.
Keep your eyes peeled for the changes

Stratford Upon Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, is an area we regularly and happily cover. Recently bestowed with the accolade of “Most Charming Town In The World” it is a hotbed of businesses and restaurants. One such restaurant is Bernadettes, a restaurant lovingly crafted from the former Island Cafe by John and Lyndsay Clemmow. Beautifully restored over three floors Bernadettes Restaurant specialise in fresh seafood prepared by revered chef Colin Layfield.
Image Hungry was in attendance for Bernadettes opening night, while soaking up the atmosphere our photographers captured images of the varied menu as well as photographic images of the building and staff at work. These images have been incorporated as the centre piece of the restaurants new website.

You can view our photography throughout the entire Bernadettes Restaurant site and also the dedicated photographic gallery.
We wish Bernadettes Restaurant a most prosperous and successful future with this impressive venture.

We are happy to announce that Image Hungry has enjoyed a busy few months, welcoming new customers, from large household brands, right through to localised community projects.
A recent photographic project gave Stuart, head photographer, the opportunity to blend three of his greatest passions; food, alcohol and photography.
Image Hungry were commissioned to cover a demonstration in which world renowned brand Grand Marnier was incorporated into luxurious desserts by the skilled hand of Nicolas Boussin, ambassador for Grand Marnier.
Hosted in the lavish surroundings of Simpson’s Restaurant Stuart candidly covered the creation of several deserts while also collecting posed portraits and finally classic clean images of the final product taken in our Birmingham studio.

In the current financial climate it has become more important that businesses, large and small, utilise every available media in order to promote their restaurant or brand. At times where the budget for advertising has become tighter it’s wise to look for an alternative to the traditionally expensive print runs.
For several businesses Image Hungry have successfully integrated the use of regular e-flyers to increase the amount of traffic a website receives.
E-flyers, e-shots or e-mail flyers, as they are sometimes referred to, are decorative and informative emails used to relay promotions, news articles and information to as many email addresses as you please. These could be sent to past customers or to email addresses submitted through a mailing list option on a website.
E-flyers are the perfect way to advertise an event or promotion, for example we have used our promotional e-flyers in the past to inform customers of Mother’s Day Menus and seasonal menu change overs. It is also simple to integrate enticing images of the food, product or service you are advertising.
Recently we monitored the traffic statistics for a site on the day of us issuing a recent e-shot, we found that the hits to the website trebled thanks to the increased email promotion.

E-flyers could become an effective marketing tool for your business. See our photographic services page for more information and please feel free to contact us further.

We’ve had a lot of enquiries recently throughout the U.K and we feel there is a need inform you of our methods on how we calculate our travel expenses and costs.
How we calculate our travel cost is simple, we visit The AA website (http://www.theaa.co.uk) and input the to and from postcodes in the get route section of the AA website. This brings up the distance in miles and kilometres along with expected travel times. We then charge £0.40 per mile.
Anything below or in the region of 30 miles we don’t charge any travel expenses for.
For example if we were travelling to Norfolk from Birmingham the AA give a distance of 160 miles and a time of 3 hours 16 minutes. By multiplying 0.40 by 160 it gives a total of £64 each way. You would then have to multiply £64 by 2 for the return journey.
Another example would be if we were travelling to London from Birmingham the AA give a distance of 115 miles and a journey time of 2 hours 27 minutes. By multiplying 0.40 by 115 it gives a total of £46.00 each way. Once again you would then have to multiply the £46.00 by two to give a grand total of £92.00. We would swallow the congestion charge ourselves along with parking fees.
Listed below are just some examples of other routes and journeys we have recently had to quote for:
Brighton: 165 miles each way – total travel expenses are £132.00
Derby: 45 miles each way – total travel expenses are £36.00
Leicester: 43 miles each way – total travel expenses are £34.40
Liverpool: 100 miles each way – total travel expenses are £80.00
Manchester: 85 miles each way – total travel expenses are £68.00
Newcastle: 206 miles each way – total travel expenses are £164.80
Oxford: 66 miles each way – total travel expenses are £52.80
Wolverhampton: 20 miles each way – total travel expenses are £0.00
